Information for Parents - getting kids ready for school

Our (adult) behaviour and response to uncertain situations are very important. Children are looking to us for a sense that things are okay. If we look and act as though we are doing okay, and alongside them come up with a plan going forward, then this will aid them. This gives everyone a sense of control. Attached is a document that provides strategies and information for parents about preparing students for their return to school. Please take a moment to read.

Resuming School Transport Services

When schools resume under Alert Level 2, school transport services will also return to normal schedules. The ongoing safety of bus drivers and students and the ability to contact trace is a priority as we enter Alert Level 2, and will be managed in the following ways:

Tuesday 12 May 2020

Level 2 is not about taking a risk. It's about making sure we are not the risk.

Many people throughout the country are looking forward to moving to Level 2. Businesses up and running again, freedom to move outside our bubbles, schools open on Monday, children along with teachers keen to be back and meeting with friends we've missed for several weeks. Things will be different but we will be ready and prepared to welcome everyone back on Monday. I would ask you to organise things so that your child turns up for school after 8.30 am and before 8.55 am as that will avoid congestion at the gate before 8.30 am when we open. It is important to remember that Level 2 is not about taking a risk. It's about making sure we are not the risk. We will have all the safety measures in place to operate but it is essential that your child adheres to the hygiene and distancing requirements so that they do not pose a risk to others. If your child is unwell they must remain at home. Please ensure that we have your correct contact details should they become unwell and we need to get in touch.

Like me, I am sure many of you were waiting with interest for the announcements made by the Prime Minister today. It is reassuring to hear how well our country has done at minimising the impacts of COVID-19. Alert Levels 4 and 3 have not been easy and I thank you for your ongoing support for the work you are all doing.

Principal Update

Kia ora, greetings to all. I would like to express my gratitude to all families for your part in maintaining lockdown in your bubbles. Your actions have contributed to stopping the spread of this virus and will help us all to get back to school sooner. The most important thing you can do is look after the people in your bubble. Be kind to yourself and to each other.

OIS - Alert Level 3

Yesterday the Government decided that we will move into Alert Level 3 on 28 April. That means we will be open to receive students from Wednesday 29 April. The key message for you is that if you can, you should keep your child at home. You should only send your child to school if you need to. If your child has a health condition that means they are at a greater risk of a severe illness you must keep them at home. If your child is sick you must also keep them at home.

Kia ora whanau

Things have certainly changed dramatically since your children were last at school on March 20. When we headed into Anniversary weekend we certainly had no insight into the way in which our lives were about to change dramatically.
