Uniform

Our school uniform fosters a sense of identity, belonging and pride in our pupils. It ensures a consistently high standard of dress is worn by pupils throughout the day and provides a cost-effective and practical dress code.

Girls & Boys 

Monogrammed Navy Jersey and/or polar fleece
OIS Red Polo Shirt
Black leather lace-up school shoes
Plain navy sunhat or cap (term 1 & 4)  

P.E. Uniform

OIS Red T-shirt
OIS Navy shorts
Gym shoes – sneakers or similar
White sports socks

Girls

Wrap-around OIS tartan skirt or culottes (culottes available from O.I.S.)
White ankle socks (summer)
Navy blue over the knee socks or tights (winter)                  

Boys

Grey shorts
Grey knee-length socks (no stripes)

Optional Items

OIS school jacket (can be purchased from O.I.S.)

Swimming

Girls appropriate swimsuit (no bikini or cutaway togs)

Boys swim shorts (above the knee)

New Uniform

Sutherland Men’s & Ladieswear on Thames Street is the sole provider of new uniforms for Oamaru Intermediate School. Parents are urged to finalise uniform requirements at an early stage to ensure stock is available.
Girls have the option of wearing culottes and these are available at the school office. 

SHOES - Please note that all students are required to wear black leather lace-up shoes. Canvas and other casual shoes, which are advertised as “school shoes”, are not suitable.

HATS - are available from the school office at a cost of $8 (Terms 1 and 4). 

Naming of Personal Items

All clothing, footwear, etc must be clearly and indelibly marked in an obvious place with the child’s name. The school accepts no responsibility for the loss of items. Named items are quickly returned to their owners.

Sports Uniforms

A requirement of being in a school team is that the students wear the correct team uniform. Most of these team uniform items are provided by the school.

Additional Items

Jewellery is not acceptable, except for a watch and a small plain stud in each ear. Nail polish, makeup and obvious dyed hair are not permitted. Long hair needs to be tied back with a plain band – red, navy, black or brown.
