Possible Strike Action

NZEI Te Riu Roa primary teacher members have endorsed a one-day strike on Wednesday 31 May AND a ban on meetings outside of 8.30 am - 4.30 pm from 1-30 June. However, due to a process initiated by the Minister of Education to progress Collective Agreement negotiations, any decision on moving forward with these industrial actions has been paused by the NZEI Te Riu Roa National Executive until the 30th of May.

Celebrating Matariki with a Hangi

At the end of this term, we will be putting down a hangi in an early celebration of Matariki. If you are able to assist with any donations of: Legs of Lamb, Pumpkin, Potatoes, red Kumara, Carrots, butter, loaves of bread, please let Whaea Jamaya know. Lost Property!

As you can see from the picture above, there is a large quantity of lost property in our Learning Centre. Please make sure your child's uniform is clearly named and ask your child to check lost property for any missing items. Any items unclaimed will be put back in to our second-hand uniform supplies.

Donation from LJ Hooker - Oamaru

Once again, thank you to LJ Hooker Oamaru and Sue Gaze for their donation and continued support of Oamaru Intermediate School. This donation will go towards our library furniture refit and was accepted by Rocky Blair.

WHITTAKER’S CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER 2023

Run by the Oamaru Intermediate School PTA, our major fundraiser run by our school P.T.A is the sale of snack-sized Whittaker’s Chocolate bars. The success of this delicious and popular fundraiser will provide us with funds to assist our students in many ways such as enabling guest speakers, providing in-class devices, P.E equipment and E.O.T.C.

WEAR SOMETHING PINK day - Friday 19 May TOMORROW

Pink Shirt Day is about working together to stop bullying by celebrating diversity and promoting kindness and inclusiveness. It’s about creating a community where all people feel safe, valued and respected, regardless of gender, identity, age, ability, religion or cultural background. O.I.S. is doing something a little different for Pink Shirt Day. Instead of Pink Shirt Day, we are having a WEAR SOMETHING PINK day: so SUBSTITUTE uniform item/s for something that is pink.

LEARNING CONVERSATIONS 2023

BOOKINGS ARE OPEN MONDAY 15 MAY at 12:00 noon. These 15-minute conversations are an important part of our learning programme. They allow you as parents to be informed of your child’s progress and what they need to be doing to make further gains. These will take place on Wednesday 7 June. We are asking you, if possible, to keep your child at home on that day, as the Learning Conversations will be from 8:15 am - 6:15 pm. If you are unable to keep your child at home, we have teachers that will supervise your child. Please contact the office on 4370822 to inform us if your child needs to be at school that day.
