Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.

As another busy week at OIS draws to an end, it is hard to believe we are three weeks away from the end of the term. I want to remind our students that we continue to work hard and embrace our IDEAL values to ensure that our students finish their term positively.

Last night our PTA met for the first time this year, Amanda Notman, Jude Garett and the team work hard behind the scenes to support our programmes. Our major fundraiser for the year will be Whittakers Chocolates which will happen in Term 2.

Yesterday, we had our first-ever Balmacewan Exchange, while we didn’t get the win overall our students did very well. A huge thank you to Sharon, Hannah, and the team who helped put this together.

Today, we had 100 students at a Ripper Rugby Tournament. Thank you to all our parents who have supported this event.

A huge congratulations to Isabelle Raukete and Anthony, Angelo, and Izariah who have welcomed a beautiful new baby boy Tamaina Rolando Toa to their whānau.

At Oamaru Intermediate School, we firmly believe that building and sustaining positive and effective relationships is the foundation of success. It enables students and staff to build strong connections with their peers and each other. One of the highlights for many students and teachers is the Year 8 EOTC opportunities provided at O.I.S. Next week our first Year 8 camp group Rooms 3 and 4 are heading away. I know the excitement is building, but please remember you must be on time for the bus the morning you leave, as we will not keep the bus waiting for anyone running late. Students must be in the hall from 6.30 am to 6.45 am.
