Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.

It’s hard to believe we’re just a week away from the holidays, marking the final term of the school year! As an IDEAL school, we emphasize Acting with Respect, which extends to how we treat ourselves and our environment both in school and in our community. It’s been wonderful to see students engaging during break times, especially with the tennis sessions led by Becky from North Otago Tennis.

Next Friday all of our Oamaru Intermediate teachers are attending a conference in Oamaru, this is an opportunity for us to connect with other teachers and be involved in professional development. With this in mind, the last day of school for Oamaru Intermediate is Thursday.

As we approach the holiday break, I encourage you to stay involved in your child’s activities and friendships. While our tamariki thrive on responsibility, they still need guidance and supervision, especially regarding their digital interactions. Please monitor the online platforms they use and have open conversations about their online presence.

Recently, I heard a speaker share his life journey, emphasising the importance of high expectations and surrounding ourselves with uplifting people who share our values. Looking around, I see that we have an incredible community here at OIS—staff, students, and whānau—making it a privilege to be the Tumuaki of Oamaru Intermediate.

Thank you to everyone for your support this term, whether through sports, academics, events, or contributions to our raffle. We truly appreciate our community! Enjoy the upcoming break!
