Principal's Message......
Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.
Tēnā koutou katoa, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Bula vinaka.
As this week draws to a close I could not be more proud to be the Tumuaki of Oamaru Intermediate School. It has been an absolute honour to watch our Pasifika group at their performances this week, the energy they brought to the stage was electric. This group will be performing on Tuesday night at the Fiefia night.
Whaea Isabelle, along with tutors Anthony and Vika, and their team of helpers, have put hours of work into supporting our students. We can not thank you all enough for this commitment and are blessed to have you working with our Pasifika group.
At OIS our third Ideal value is Acting with Respect. It is a way of treating or thinking about others and ourselves. Often this is the area that many struggle in, especially near the end of the term when we are tired and in need of a rest. At OIS we have a strong culture of building and maintaining positive relationships, and it is a timely reminder for us all, that the way we treat others and ourselves directly impacts our well-being and the well-being of others. These interactions are core to the culture at OIS and reflect our values.
It would be great if you could have a discussion at home with your child around these points
How do we Act with Respect in our lives?
-
Treat people with courtesy, politeness, and kindness.
- Use kind words, respectful words, safe words
- Compliment others when they are achieving or doing the right thing
- Stand up for others and yourself
- Encourage others to express opinions and ideas
- Listen to what others have to say before expressing your viewpoint
Everyone has their part to play to ensure we are all working together and supporting each other to be the best that we can be.
“He waka eke noa” We are all in this together.
Camp 2024
Thank you for the donations of prizes for our raffle, please keep these coming. I know it feels like camp is a long way away but it is important that we are organised. While we do facilitate fundraising opportunities, if you think you may find it difficult to fundraise, it is essential that you start to prepare for your child's camp by making regular payments into the school bank account. O.I.S. bank account number is:
Westpac Bank 03-0937-0207107-00
Reference: Child's name and what the payment is for eg Camp
Enrolments
We are so excited to see all the enrolments coming in for next year, we have space for in-zone enrolments and out-of-zone applications. Check out our website www.oamaruint.school.nz for more information.
