From the Principal; I am grateful for...

Today we mark the halfway point in our term. I often speak to the school about always taking the time to be grateful, to pause and reflect on what we are grateful for, so I thought I would share with you some of my thinking.

I am grateful for our Tamariki, our students, and the heart of the school. They bounce into our classrooms with smiles on their faces and embrace change and challenges.

I am grateful for our whanau this term, for the abundance of food that came in for our hangi celebration, for your ongoing support with coaching/managing teams, and for ensuring your child comes to school each day ready to learn.

I am grateful for the support of our PTA, these wonderful humans successfully raised close to $8,000, money that will benefit our children.

I am grateful for the Board of Trustees, Ben and his term work hard behind the scenes to ensure the best outcomes for our children.

I am grateful for all the staff at OIS who never cease to amaze me, they role model our IDEAL values and work to support all our students to be the best that they can be.

I am grateful for our facilities and the environment we utilise every day.

He aha te mea nui o te ao. What is the most important thing in the world?

He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. It is the people, it is the people, it is the people

We started the week with our House Choirs, this was a wonderful celebration of the Arts and how students come together and perform as a collective. The performances were so entertaining, it certainly has been awesome to hear the sound of music ringing out on a Friday afternoon.

Yesterday was such a beautiful way to end the term, coming together to celebrate Matariki and share our hangi together. Whaea Jamaya and her team of helpers did an outstanding job ensuring the hangi was such a huge success. Our students raised $500 to support our Pasifika students performing in Dunedin later next term.

As the term draws to a close, I would like to wish all of our students and community a very safe and relaxing holiday.
