Oamaru Intermediate has been directed by the Ministry of Education under the Education Training Act 2020 to engage in an Enrolment Zone Scheme process. I would like to acknowledge the significant time the Board has given in this process so far. Rebecca O’Sullivan, BOT Chairperson.

Message for school community from Ministry of Education (newsletter, letter to parents etc)

The Ministry has just opened consultation about a proposed new enrolment scheme for Oamaru Intermediate School. An enrolment scheme is a tool for a school board to manage its roll through creating a home zone and fair and transparent processes for enrolling any children living outside the area.

We want to hear and understand community views before making any decisions about where the enrolment scheme home zone area will be. This will include consultation with the Oamaru Intermediate School Board, other schools in the area, parents and whānau from school communities, and people who live in the area.

Students already enrolled at Oamaru Intermediate School will not be affected by the enrolment scheme. It is intended that an enrolment scheme will be in place for 2022 enrolments.
