We would appreciate money be brought to school by this Wednesday 18 March, 2020.
The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health are in constant contact with schools in New Zealand, updating us every couple of days. Communication to you will be via Facebook UNLESS there is an important change in circumstances that we need you to know about, we will email you in this instance. At the moment we have several children each day coming to school feeling unwell with sore throats and coughs. We can't stress enough to keep your child at home if they are unwell or to collect them from school if they become unwell. We do not have facilities or personnel to look after sick children for the day, nor is it our role.
Thank you to all those families who have sold their chocolates. We have 50 boxes left to sell so be in quick!
The spread of this virus is very concerning for many parents. The Ministries of Education and Health are working closely together and we receive continual updates from them around management.
Here are some dates to remember of events happening throughout term one at OIS.
OIS Swimming Sports are TOMORROW Friday 6th March, at our school pool. They begin at 9.15 am and finish at approximately 12.30 pm.
School Fees - As explained to parents at the "Meet the Teacher" evening, the Board of Trustees has signed up with the government school donation scheme.
OIS Swimming Sports are Friday 6th March, next week, at our school pool. They begin at 9.15 am and finish at approximately 12.30 pm.
Students are not able to enter the school grounds before 8.30 am so we would appreciate if they didn't arrive too early. We DO NOT want large groups congregating outside, unsupervised before 8.30 am.
The first meeting for 2020 will be held this Monday 2nd March in Room 4 starting at 7.30pm. If you know any new parents joining the school this year please encourage them to come along. All welcome!
Chocolates will be sent home with your child this Friday, tomorrow. If we can pull together as a school community and achieve this it means that each child will fundraise $24 for OIS and we would have $7,680 to invest in school projects to benefit all students.
With funds raised from our Disco and Mufti Day last week we were able to present a cheque to Mark and Adrienne Wylie from the Oamaru Combined Churches for the amount of $821.30.
We have our Annual Treat Day which is a day of fun and activities recognising the positive behaviour of students.
Prizegiving is this Friday 13 December at 12.00 noon in our school hall. At this prizegiving, we acknowledge Cultural, Sporting and Academic Excellence.
