'Among the Stars' Outreach Days with Damien McNamara

This week we’ve had Damien come in to work with our classes about Matariki.

Our students had a fantastic time with Damien over the past two days. We talked about the meaning behind Matariki from a Te Ao Māori perspective, as well as the rest of the world, and used VR headsets to figure out how we can locate Matariki on the horizon at this time of year.

Our Year 7 classes were taken through a Matariki slideshow while the Year 8 classes, who had that slideshow last year, had a celestial navigation slideshow about how our ancestors found their way here to Aotearoa.
