Human Body unit - dissection lessons coming up

By Ryan Clark | Posted: Wednesday June 5, 2024

Students at OIS are currently learning about the human body as part of our puberty unit. Over the next 4 weeks, students will move around the school to participate in a number of lessons and experiments that aim to develop their understanding of key systems and organs in the human body.

Two of these lessons will include undertaking dissections. One dissection will use cow eyes, to learn about the human sense of vision, and the other, sheep plucks (lungs/heart) to learn about the respiratory system and function of the heart.

Obviously, some students may not feel comfortable participating in the dissections or may want to opt-out for cultural reasons. Alternative learning will be provided for any students who do not want to participate.
