Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.

We are well and truly in the swing of a new term that may be one of the busiest yet. Children will be working hard this term, not only in the classroom, but participating in a range of different activities such as technology, Kapa haka, choir and Pasifika groups that have performances, and winter sports just to name a few. Our winter sports programme is well underway and our exchange trials have started. Please support your child to have all the gear they need.

This week I have been lucky enough to attend camp with Rooms 13 and 14. It's always a buzz to see students and parents pushing themselves out of their comfort zone to try something new. We have one last group of students to go next week and I know Rooms 5/9 are looking forward to these days away. A huge thank you to all the parents who are supporting our camping programme this year.

OIS is an extremely busy place and we have an incredible support staff team that helps keep the wheels rolling. I am super grateful for the support of Debbie and Kerry in the office, they go above and beyond to ensure OIS is the best place it can be.

The Aquavan has been with us this week which was an excellent opportunity for our students to get up close with a number of marine creatures. A huge thank you to Nic Neal and the team from the University of Otago for providing this opportunity for our community.

Unfortunately this week, our Dacre Street gate will be closed as we are getting the final restoration of our grass area since the classroom upgrade. This will mean that you will need to collect your child from the Pembroke Street gate or the main road.
