Principal's Message

Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.

Tēnā koutou katoa, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Bula vinaka

I would like to thank those who joined us online or onsite for our Diligence Assembly. This was an opportunity for our students who have consistently shown the IDEAL values. Diligence, by its very definition, is the application of focused and persistent effort to complete a task.

Students who are diligent

  • Don’t give easy

  • They have the can do attitude

  • They try new activities with an open mind

  • Encourage others

  • They are organised

  • Are determined to execute their plan

  • They live in the moment

Diligent students may not be the fastest sprinter, the top of the class mathematicians, they may not perform on stage, be an excellent speller, be able to shoot three pointers but, diligent people work hard to be the best that they can be.

I believe diligence is the key to success and every single one of us can determine how diligently we work. We live in a world where everything is at our fingertips - we expect instant response from a message or a snapchat, we no longer phone but message. Like it or not, we live in a fast pace world with plenty of new experiences to navigate. Don’t get me wrong, I love technology, I rely on it everyday to work and communicate with my friends and family, but like you, I have had to learn the importance of turning off and being present.

However, it is easy to let new opportunities pass us by because we are to busy thinking about the future or focusing on the past. So don’t let yesterday or tomorrow stand in the way of what you can do today. Get rid of excuses and follow your dreams. Focus on the now!

Our Year 8 students had a fantastic night celebrating there two years at OIS and danced the night away.

A huge thank you to all parents who supported us with our Touch and Futsal programme this year. We could not have put so many teams in the competition without your support.

We are looking forward to our final prizegiving which will be held on Wednesday.

Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th : Students can come to school in PE gear.

Wednesday 14 December: End of Year Prizegiving @12.00pm - last day of school. Students will leave after the Prizegiving.
