Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.

Tēnā koutou katoa, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Bula vinaka

Thank you for your support with ensuring your child is in correct uniform. This term we encourage students to wear a navy hat, this can be a bucket hat or cap. Caps are available from the office for $8 each.

We are super excited to announce that the Board has appointed the following teachers for 2022. India McLay will join the Year 7 team and our fabulous STEM teacher Andrew Oliver will be shifting to  Digitech. Mrs Forrest is returning to the Year 8 team as a classroom teacher. Mrs Forrest is also an Across School Lead for our Waitaki Ara Kahui Ako - Community of Learning, and will be team teaching with Justine Robins. Some of you may remember Justine Robins who was team teaching in Room 11 in 2020.

Attendance

If your child is going to be absent please make sure you phone or email the school office before 9am.

Camp

Our Year 8 Camp Programme is going ahead and I know that the students are really excited. Thank you for your support in ensuring that your child has the correct gear for camp. Rest assured that if your child is away on camp and the COVID alert levels change, we will get your child home in a safe time frame. Please ensure your child has a mask packed for Monday.
Camps are a great opportunity for students to be pushed out of their comfort zones and demonstrate our ideal values and expectations in a different context. It is expected that students will uphold the values of school whilst on camp so please have a talk with your child about what this looks like in the context of camp, respecting bedtime rules, roles of responsibility and respecting each other in the way we speak and the words that are used.

As you will be aware in signing for your child to go to camp one of the schools expectations of you is that you will collect your child from camp at any time if their behaviour is deemed inappropriate or unsafe.

This week on camps are:

  • Phil Martin/Olivia Hunter - Mt Somers

  • Becky Taylor/Kate Lawrence - Kiwi Explorer

  • Belinda Hirst/Jude Garrett - Boyle River

During the next 2 weeks of camps please refer any Year 8 questions to Ms Kelsy Fletcher: kelsyf@oamaruint.school.nz

Please ensure you follow our Facebook page for updates on arrival times home next Friday. Please DO NOT contact the school office.
