At Alert Level 2...

Kia Ora parents and whanau. The Prime Minister has just announced that we are moving to Alert Level 2. I want to reassure you that we have sound level 2 practices in place for all staff and students. At Alert Level 2 Oamaru Intermediate School will remain open.

  • Meet The Teacher night scheduled for Wednesday 17 February is postponed at this stage.
  • At level 2 we ask that you do not come onto the school site unless absolutely necessary. If you need to come on-site you must go directly to the office, scan the QR code prior to entering and then through the main office door.
  • We ask that children do not congregate at the gate before school, therefore arrive at school after 8.30 am.
  • We will be staggering the end of the day with

- Rms 3,4,5,6,9,10 leaving at 2.55pm

- Rms 11,12,13,14,17,19 leaving at 3.05pm

  • At Alert Level 2 it is safe for all students, children and staff to attend school. There will be appropriate precautions in place.

  • Children and staff who are at higher risk of severe illness are encouraged to take additional precautions when leaving home.

  • Please keep anyone who is unwell at home, or come and pick your child up if they become unwell at school.

  • Good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette need to be continued.

  • Soap and water are very appropriate for washing hands. We have stocks of hand sanitiser for student use.

  • For schools, children, young people and staff should be far enough away from each other so that they are not breathing on or touching each other, coupled with good hygiene practices and regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces. There does not need to be a specific measurement but where practicable and reasonable 1 metre can be used as a guide, particularly between adults. (We will talk to the children about staying out of each other's moist breath zone).

  • We ask you not to come onto the school site unless necessary, and if that is the case to come directly to the office.

  • Staff and students are continuing with contact tracking.

  • It is not essential to wear masks but it is optional.

As prior, we ask you to keep your child at home if they are unwell or to collect them from school if they become unwell. We do not have facilities or personnel to look after sick children for the day, nor is it our role.

Thank you for your support, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to be in touch with your child’s classroom teacher.
