Covid 19 Update

The spread of this virus is very concerning for many parents. The Ministries of Education and Health are working closely together and we receive continual updates from them around management.

Any decisions around school closure in response to Covid 19 would be made by the Ministry of Health and communicated to us. All schools and early learning services are still in the Keep it Out phase of a pandemic plan.

The preventative measures the Ministry of Health is encouraging schools and early learning services to practice are those of good hygiene, which include:

  • Washing hands with soap and water before and after eating, as well as after attending the toilet
  • Covering coughs and sneezes with clean tissues or with an elbow
  • Putting used tissues in the bin
  • Encouraging staff and students to stay home if they are unwell

You will be aware that advice from the Ministry of Health asks everyone to wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, making sure you dry them thoroughly. The spread of any virus is always of concern. At the moment we have several children each day coming to school feeling unwell with sore throats and coughs.

As always, we ask you to keep your child at home if they are unwell or to collect them from school if they become unwell. We do not have facilities or personnel to look after sick children for the day, nor is it our role.

Thank you for your support in this matter.
