Principal's message....

By Mary Healey | Posted: Thursday November 21, 2019

This afternoon the last of our Year 8 campers arrived back from Mt Somers and Wainui. All have returned safely and by all accounts the camps have been successful.

I thank all parent helpers who gave up time to assist with camps and I particularly thank the teachers at camp and those who covered classes and duties in their absence and helped with fundraising during the year.

Our ladies in the office, Kerry and Debbie, along with Sharon our sports co-ordinator spent a huge amount of hours on the administrative side of things, bookings, fundraising etc. Other teacher aides have supported by preparing meals in advance to make life easier at camp.

It is truly a team effort at a very busy time of the year. I am so grateful for their commitment to providing amazing camping opportunities for your children.

On Monday we will welcome Shelley Wylie and Murray South from the Education Review Office to O.I.S. It is three years since we were last evaluated. This external review adds another dimension to the Board of Trustees' ongoing review process. Reviewers are interested in the quality of our teaching and learning programmes and how they meet the needs of our students. They evaluate leadership, management and governance processes and procedures.

This evaluative process involves talking with students, teachers and Board members and looking at achievement, documentation and goal setting.
