Out of this World!

Room 13 students have got a keen interest in what's up in the sky since Damien McNamara's talk about what can be seen through Oamaru's Observatory Telescopes.

Part of our Matariki study led us to discussing what we see in the sky and how fascinating the stars are. Mr McNamara came and spoke to us about his interest in the night sky and how he became involved with astronomy.  We were excited to learn Oamaru's own Observatory on Stoke Street is up and running again. It is open to the public on Friday evenings.

Since his visit, Room 13 has come across all sorts of related texts, apps and opportunities to further our understanding about what is out there. Elliot found a really neat app that simulates a rocket! We are going to keep the theme rolling throughout the year, as it is fun learning about all the connections to stars.
