"O'nesians" Band Quest 2019

This group of amazing students from our Powerup Intermediate hub were given an opportunity a few weeks ago to include music as part of their learning in their Powerup sessions.

Four weeks later with wraparound support from their families, music tutor Hiliako Iaheto, Hub facilitator Maiele, OIS teacher Harriet McGowan, Izaac Siliga, Principal Mary Healey, the students gave themselves a name "O'nesians" (Oamaru Nesians/Polynesians), practiced hard/learnt new instruments, chords, lyrics in Tongan and entered Otago Band Quest with awesome support from Oamaru Intermediate School. They were placed 2nd, and won best vocalists at the Otago Band Quest 2019 we are absolutely so proud of you all, well done to all involved.
