Karen McNabb Food & Textiles Technology Teacher

Karen began her teaching career in rural Southland and South Canterbury as a general classroom teacher before moving to the North Otago area to follow her passion for both Food and Textiles focused learning

Originally from a farming background, she understands and enjoys sharing the importance of a ‘garden to table’ food based programme to ensure children learn how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal food. Karen’s enthusiasm for textiles was triggered by her introduction at an intermediate level and following this through high school at the NCEA equivalent. She is keen to ignite the same spark in her students.

In her spare time, she appreciates spending time with her family and friends, especially in the outdoors, camping, hiking, kayaking, and fishing or just relaxing with a good novel.
