Our Purpose: To prepare students to be active participants who will contribute to their community.

Tēnā koutou katoa, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Bula vinaka

Thank you to everyone who supported our BX Foods Whānau Breakfast on Tuesday. Richard and his team did an excellent job.

It is hard to believe that next week will mark the halfway point of our term, so for most students, the nerves have settled and students have adapted to our O.I.S expectations and routines. Next week we welcome our first group of students from our partnership schools who come to learn and participate in our excellent Technology Programme.

At O.I.S we offer a number of opportunities, and for a number of students, these are new experiences. It is always important for us to teach our students to take new experiences as a chance to learn something new and experience something different in a safe supportive environment. Encourage your child to get involved in a cultural activity or winter sport this year. This term your child can participate in our school Duathlon and Swimming Sports. All our school events have something to offer everyone, so please encourage your child to participate either in the competitive or non competitive fun events.

Touch

It is fantastic to see nearly 100 students playing touch for O.I.S on a Tuesday night. If your child rides a bike to school and is taking it over to the touch fields, please talk to them about locking it up against the main rugby ground fence. It is really important that students are not riding their bikes on the fields, especially the cricket pitches. I know that you will support us with this. Just a reminder that touch fees $20 are due, so if you need support with these, please let the office or your child’s teacher know.

Mufti Day

Our thoughts are with everyone in the North Island dealing with the destruction caused by flooding and Cyclone Gabrielle. On Tuesday 28 February, we will be holding a mufti day, and all proceeds will be donated to the NZ Red Cross Disaster Fund. Reminder: on this day we finish school at 1.00 pm due to our Union meeting.

Year 8 Camp Raffles

The raffle tickets are selling well and juicy forms have gone home. It is great to see so many families getting in behind their students going to camp.

Union Meeting: School Closed Tuesday 28 February at 1.00 pm.

This a reminder that school is closing at 1.00 pm on Tuesday to allow our teachers to head to the Teachers Union meeting.
