The Oamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations Committee invites you to join the Grand Street Parade on 19 November 2022. This year the theme of the Celebrations is ‘Highland Fling’, and we would like to see your take on this theme. Parade assembly is at 11:30am on Lower Wansbeck St. The Parade will start at 12:00 noon.

Please reply to this email to register with OVHC so that we can arrange the parade order in advance, making line up easier for us all. Attached also are our Health and Safety Guidelines which we ask all participants to follow.

Design your own Tartan

You will need to think about the following:

  • Colour: needs to be limited to 3-4 only
  • Can be traditional or not
  • The pattern must repeat
  • Use straight lines
  • Entries need to be on A4 size paper in any media
  • You may like to look at a Tartan generator to design your  colours
  • For inspiration think about the colours you see in the Waitaki
  • Name and age to go on the back of each entry

Age category: Pre-schooler / 5-8yrs / 9-12 yrs / 13-17yrs / 18yrs+

Entries can be dropped at Forrester Gallery, Waitaki Museum or Ōamaru Library

Competition closes Wednesday 9 November 2022. Winners will be announced on social media. Judging and prizes sponsored by McLean and Co (There will be a runner up and a winner for each age category).

Entries will be displayed the Waitaki Library and can be collected from the Forrester Gallery after 13 December 2022 | gallery@waitaki.govt.nz
