O.I.S. Year 8 Camp Information 2023

One of the highlights for many students and teachers is the Year 8 EOTC opportunities that are provided at Oamaru Intermediate School. In 2023, Year 8 EOTC camps will happen at the end of Term 1/beginning of Term 2. Students will go on camp in their homerooms with their home teacher leading the camp. Their buddy class will also accompany them. We firmly believe that building and sustaining positive and effective relationships is the foundation of success at O.I.S. as it enables students and staff to build strong connections with their peers and each other.

Students will be involved in a four day, 3 night programme at Raincliff Youth Camp in Pleasant Point at a cost of approximately $300 per child.

Activities include:

  • Peel Forest Adventure: high ropes, orienteering, abseiling, water safety, kayaking/raft building and a tramp at Pioneer Park.

  • Mini Golf in Timaru

  • Caroline Bay Trust Aoraki Pool in Timaru

It is an expectation that your child participates in this EOTC programme and we will work with you to help make this happen. We feel that it is important that you are aware of these changes now so you can plan ahead.

A number of our families have already set up automatic payments for their child's account here at school. This is an excellent idea as a small amount of $5 a week soon adds up. While we do offer some fundraising at the end of the year and the start of next year, we do encourage our parents to be proactive around financially supporting their child to go to camp.

All Year 7s will be sent home with a raffle ticket next Tuesday 25 October. You will have approximately 3 weeks to sell as many tickets as you can. If you choose not to fundraise please return the ticket to the school office.

Oamaru Intermediate School bank account number is:

  • Westpac Bank 03-0937-0207107-00

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
